We have assessed the possibility of holding group rides and going to events. After reflecting on the guidance given by USAC and the CDC we don't see a fun and responsible way to hold any type of group ride. Therefore, we will be suspending them until further notice. We will reassess the possibility of attending events and group riding after Labor Day.
With cases going up we encourage you to recognize that your actions affect the people you come in contact with. And we implore you to make smart and considered choices and avoid group rides. We understand that a lot of you have the itch to get back to normal. Remember, the sooner we get the virus under control the sooner we can get back to normal.
These decisions are based on the guidance given by the CDC, City of Chicago, and USA Cycling. See the links below for more information.
Rules of the Road
A helmet is required to come along. Also, to keep the group ride safe please keep the following in mind:
1. Be predictable
2. Don't overlap wheels
3. Announce hazards and signal
4. No aero bars
5. Follow the rules of the road
Come out and ride with us! We go on several open group rides throughout the year. We like meeting new people and riding with them. In case of inclement weather please check the forum for ride updates.
Sunday Group Ride
(April thru September)
The Sunday Turin group ride starts the first weekend in April and ends on Labor day. It departs from Turin Bicycle on Damen at 8:40 am (gather at 8:30). The ride pace is dictated by the riders who show up and separations in the group occasionally happen after we have passed by the Bahai Temple in Evanston. However, we regroup along the way so no one will get lost. If you have questions feel free to give us a shout.
(April thru September)
We typically ride on Saturdays during the summer and we like it when people join us. Our saturday rides don't have a lot of structure to them so if you would like to come along its best to take a peek at the forum for more specific details.
Fall/Winter Weekend Riding
The ride leaves from Turin Bicycle on Damen in the morning either Saturday or Sunday depending on the weather. Check the forum for updates. The ride pace is dictated by the riders who show up. In the fall and winter, we typically don't turn up the pace and are looking for long enjoyable rides so no one should get dropped and the ride will be enjoyable for all skill levels.
